Rasim Özdenören's essays and essay writing

Rasim Özdenören is a well known story and essay writer. Another characteristic of the writer that needs emphasis is that he is an idea man. Since his first story was published in 1957, he has been writing stories and essays for 60 years. Rasim Özdenören's way of thinking shows itself in his stories and essays. Essay is a kind of writing in which collective thinking is used. It roots in Greek/Latin literature. French writer Montaigne and British writer Bacon are counted as essential names of essay writing. After the declaration of the Republic, the tendency towards essay writing in Turkish literature has increased. Rasim Özdenören's seventeen books, which include essays, have been published. If we consider the number, it is obvious that Rasim Özdenören has preferred essay over the other types. Especially his being a man of thought has affected his inclination towards essay writing. In his essays, Rasim Özdenören has dealt with İslâmic thinking, basis for Western civilization, conceptual confusions, individuals' reactions to the life, love, cities, situation of the World and international politics. The purpose of our study is that enlightening the reader about Rasim Özdenören's ideas and his being a man of thought. Thus, we have read about him have taken some essential notes about him. We have also examined the periodicals and books that give information about Rasim Özdenören's literary works. We have given a trial to explain how Rasim Özdenören's thoughts have come to existance. The part of the study in which we have covered Rasim Özdenören's essays, poems, stories, novels and criticisms is the most important piece of the study. This knowledge has an instutional quality.
