Özet (EN)

Effect of silybium marianum on hepatic regeneration and angiogenesis in hepatic resection in rats.Aim: To assess effect of silybium marianum on hepatic regeneration and angiogenesis in hepatic resection in rats.Materials and Method: This experimental study has been performed in GUDAM between July and December 2010. 24 Wistar-Albino rats weighting 200 and 250 g were used in the study. Rats were divided into four groups as sham, control, silipide and carboximethilcellulose groups.Only laparotomy was performed to the rats in sham group. Partial hepatectomy(PH) was performed to other groups. After PH silipide has been given to silipide group for 7 days, and 5% cmc has been given to cmc group. On the 7. day after resection, the rats were sacrified. Blood samples were collected from vena cava inferior and remaining liver tissues were resected and weighted. Serum AST, ALT, GGT, LDH, VEGF, LPO, HGF and tissue LPO were measured. Liver weight ratio was used as a morphological parameter for liver regeneration. VEGF, PCNA signed ratio and AGNOR were used for histopathologic assessment. Results: There were statistically significant differences between all groups in AST, ALT, VEGF, tissue LPO and liver weight ratio(p<0,05)Conclusion:Silybium marianum increases hepatic regeneration and degrease angiogenesis. With further studies, clinical implementation should be considered.Key words: Silybium Marianum, Silymarin, Hepatic Regeneration, Angiogenesis, Hepatic Resection
