Abstract (EN)
By this study, we aimed to determination of the effects of the usage ofmotor neuron bridge on skin for repairment of sensorial nerve defects by using theneural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM); furthermore, there is no other previousstudy on this subject. Throught this study, main purpose remains the testing andcomparision of the effectiveness of end-to-side coaptation technique forrepairment of sural nerve defect on skin -in which the tibial nerve is used as abridge- in non-operated, with a defect created on sural nerve and with a suralnerve defect repaired end-to-end rat groups. ?NCAM? ?which is expressed by allneurons during the early and late developmental periods and is also connectedwith all adjacent cells- activity is used for testing the effects on end-organ (skin). In study, the NCAM activity in rats with denervated areas is compared with theNCAM activity in rats which are suggested to have innervated and reinnervatedskin areas. Denervation and re-innervation in sural nerve innervation area is testedsuccessfully by using skin pinching test for testing the sensitivity of skin againstpain. As a result of sensory functioning test; positive response in wholeinnervated group; negative response in denervated group and 87,5% positiveresponse in both reinnervated groups are obtained. In immunohistochemicalevaluation; the NCAM expression in denervated and reinnervated group by end73to-side coaptation technique is found to be statistically decreased against theinnervated and reinnervated group by end-to-side coaptation technique. In peripheral nerve repair, a great number of previous studies pointed thatthe end-to-end repair is a gold standard and end-to-side nerve repair is analternative method while the end-to-end repair is not possible; was not similarwith our study in which we focused on NCAM expression. Hereby, lack of morestudies on this subject and the mean increment of NCAM expression by end-tosiderepair became objects to be discussed and emphasized.
