Abstract (EN)

THE COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TIMES DEXMEDETOMIDINE ADMINISTRATION FOR PREVENTING LUNG AND SPLENIC INJURY DUE TO MESENTERIC ISCHEMIA IN THE RATS Objective: The comparison of the effects of different times dexmedetomidine administration for preventing lung and splenic injury due to mesenteric ischemia in the rats Methods: For this study, 30 Spraque-Dawley female rats (250 ± 25 g) were randomly divided into 5 groups. Non-ischemic sham group (group I: n = 6), ischemia applied control group (group II: n = 6), group treated with dexmedetomidine before ischemia (group III: n = 6), group treated with dexmedetomidine after ischemia (group IV: n = 6) and group treated with dexmedetomidine (group V: n = 6) before and after ischemia. TAS, TOS, OSI levels were measured in serum, lung and spleen tissue. MDA level measured in lung and spleen tissue then histopathology of lung and spleen were evaluated. Conclusion: In our experimental study, it was observed that dexmedetomidine infusion at a dose of 10 mcg/kg hour before and/or after mesenteric ischemia reduced ischemic damage in lung and spleen tissues following mesenteric ischemia. Based on this efficacy, preoperative and peroperative use of dexmedetomidine suggest to diminish the ischemia reperfusion damage on the organs.
