Critics of Turkish translation of Zazie Dans le Metro of Raymond Queneau in social context

In today?s world, translation has become an important practice among cultural production fields at the point reached with the theoretical studies that have been carried out in the translation studies. In this respect, the contribution of the translation practices application of Pierre Bourdieu?s practical action theory to translation critics in terms of social context is prominent in an international circulation point of view of foreign literature. According to practical action theory including concepts such as field, habitus, disposition, actor and symbolic capital, it has been seen that actors like the author Raymond Queneau, the translator Tahsin Yucel and the source text publisher Gallimard Publications, the Turkish target text publisher Can Yayinlari and Sel Yayincilik with their dispositions have an important role in their struggle in literature. The aims of this thesis are to determine the hierarchical positions of various actors participated in translation practices among literature and publication fields of cultural production fields by focusing on the Turkish translation of ?Zazie dans le metro?; in relation to this, to see how the dispositions and struggles in different fields owned by actors are reflected especially in literature and publication towards this process. In addition, Raymond Queneau?s work of art, the source text of ?Zazie dans le métro? is evaluated as a style of Nouveau Roman and Oulipo -workshop of potential literature- framework in this thesis. Determining the formal elements, inter-textual allusions and the use of slang language examples in source text, and comparing these with the translation in target text and therefore observing the choices of the translator in the direction of the author?s literature dispositions are also considered among the aims of this thesis.
