Translation and examination of Refet Avni and Suleyman Bahri's antology as the name of resimli Müntehabât-ı Edebiyye

Considering the opinions about the origin and meaning of the word anthology, the explanation that the sources converge on; it is in the form of a source work in which pieces of poetry or prose are compiled and put together. These works are; It is a library that has taken on the task of transferring the literature, science and art in ancient times to the present day. One of these valuable genres is the anthology named "Resimli Müntehabat-ı Edebiyye" prepared by Refet Avni and Süleyman Bahri. This work, which gathers the writers of the Tanzimat and Servet-i Fünûn Periods, differs from other anthologies in that it is illustrated. This anthological work prepared in 1911; The biographical information, literary and political personalities, family and education information, their duties in the state administration, the poets and writers they were influenced by, their language and style characteristics, and their knowledge of foreign languages of twenty three poets and writers who lived in the Tanzimat and Servet-i Fünûn era contains. Beginning with Şinasi and ending with Celal Sahir, the subject of this work belongs to the author and poet; There are a total of one hundred sixty seven sample pieces, including ninety three types of poetry, twelve novel-story types, ten theater genres, nine letter-memoirs, fifteen prose poetry types, sixty travel writing types, and twenty two article-essay types.
