Özet (EN)
The registers of persons occupy an important place in the examination of the history of Ottaman State, and as such, they are of utmost significance for the studies into city history as far as the information contained in them is concerned. The census started to be done in Ottoman State in 1831 in the real sense of the word. As the preceding censuseswere chiefly intended and done for the purpose of taxation, the information in them is inadequate fort pense he determination of the population. This study has been designed to give information about the male Muslim population residing in the quarters of town of Karahisar-ı Sahip in 1838 and about some characteristics of them. The population and population mobility of the town, physical features of the inhabitants of the town, their professions, military status, ages and birth/death registers in 1831 have been deterbmined, and the information obtained has been used for some evaluation of the registers.
