The effect of using creative drama in graphical design lesson on the achievement, attitude, continuance and aplication while educating art-work teacher (example of Selcuk Universty)

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using creative drama method in graphical design lesson on the achievement, attitude, continuance and application while educating art-work teacher as well as the opinions of students in experimental group about this applied education method. This research was carried out on students of Selcuk University Fine Arts Education Department, Art Education M.S.B in Konya in fall semester of 2006-2007 education year. Class 2-B (26) was selected as a control group whereas Class 2-C (29) was selected as experiment group which were formed by random sampling method. Both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods were applied in this research and pretest-final, test control-group design among experimental design methods was used. The data of the research were obtained by achievement test (pretest-final test), attitude scale, evaluation form for design products of students and interview form. Pretest and final test were applied on the groups of the research before experimental procedure as achievement test and attitude scale and continuance test was applied after 8 weeks. In order to determine the differences between the averages in the analysis of collected quantitative data, Mann Whitney U Test was used which is one of non-parametric analysis types whereas Wilcoxon Marked-Rows Test was used in order to determine whether there was a significant difference between pretest and final test points of achievement test and attitude scale in control and experiment groups. As a result of this research, there was generally a significant difference in graphical design lecture between experiment group who was applied creative drama method and control group who was applied traditional education in favor of experiment group in point of achievement, attitude, continuance and application points. In addition to this, the students in experiment group thought about the education applied in graphical design lecture that creative drama activities in graphical design lecture have positively affected their success in the subjects of information, skill and creativeness and they liked having lectures actively in a democratic medium. Furthermore, according to the findings, the education of graphical design lecture was thought to be made within the scope of creative drama activities and suggestions were given about new researches that will be made.
