Abstract (EN)
Science, medicine and art have always been intertwined since the beginning of history. In this mutual relationship, science and art, which uses information as a step to itself, tries to discover the unknown. Thus, especially scientific and technological developments deeply affect the life of both ordinary people and artists. Therefore, the relationship between art-science-medicine is inevitable. However, the relationship between science and art has been observed since the first examples of painting. The first examples of painting are seen in primitive drawings on the cave walls. In these drawings, it is possible to find many details about daily life as well as information about the medical practices of that day or the methods of seeking / healing can be obtained. This shows us the importance of the relationship between the art of painting and medical science from the primitive ages. Every development in the history of science manifests itself in art. All the scientific and technological developments, such as the discovery of the microscope, cell and DNA or the use of the atomic bomb, cause the artist to reinterpret the point of view. In this context, the effects of scientific and technological developments are directly observed in the works of artists such as Salvador Dali, Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Joan Miro, Laura Ferguson, William Utermohlen, Henri Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Frida Kahlo, Thomas Eakins, John Lavery and Picasso. Moving from all this, the relationship between painting and medical science will be discussed within the scope of this study. On the one hand, the effects of medical developments on the art of painters will be examined, and on the other hand, the effects of painters' diseases on their art will be examined. Thus, the meaning of the medical forms in the paintings of the artists is examined directly through the painters and their paintings. In this context, in this study, various painters who have produced works in this context during different periods of art history are discussed.
