Abstract (EN)
Since the dawn of human history, painting has existed as a fundamental means of communication, enabling individuals to express their emotional, intellectual, and mental worlds. The artist reconstructs external reality perceived through their senses through a mental filter, drawing on their own life experiences, cultural background, and internal processes, and then transfers it to the surface as original images. This creative process enables the emotions and thoughts of the artist's inner world to be transformed into a visual language. As the artwork encounters the viewer, the images formed through the artist's mental processes are reinterpreted in line with the viewer's individual experiences, psychological state, and perceptual capacity, generating different layers of meaning for each individual. Therefore, the meaning of the artwork ceases to be a fixed and unidirectional construct and becomes a dynamic phenomenon that constantly evolves within the framework of the viewer's cognitive, cultural, and emotional background. Mental perception in painting is considered a multilayered interactive field encompassing both the artist's internal orientations during the creative process and the viewer's processes of perception and interpretation. In this context, the study examines the reflections of mental processes on artistic production. It examines the relationship between visual perception, imagery, cognitive interpretation, and aesthetic experience based on theoretical foundations. By revealing the role of mentality in painting, the research aims to evaluate the meaning-making processes that occur within the artistwork-viewer triangle within a more comprehensive framework.
