Abstract (EN)
In old age, people may encounter many chronic degenerative diseases. One of them is age related macular degeneration. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are formed in large amounts, play an important role in the development of retinal diseases, especially macular degeneration. In our study, the protective and therapeutic effects of oxyresveratrol, a phytoestrogen, in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) induced oxidative damage, and the role of estrogen receptors in these effects were investigated in cell culture medium. We determined the protective and therapeutic effect of oxyresveratrol in oxidative damage induced by H2O2 in ARPE-19 cell line, and the role of estrogen receptors in these effects; using cell viability detection kit. And we used cell death detection, caspase-3 and TAS\TOS kits to find out the molecular mechanism of its protective and therapeutic effects. The neuroprotective appears to be dependent on estrogen receptor α\β and GPER1, albeit at a low level. As a result, we think that oxyresveratrol may be an alternative treatment in the prevention and treatment of age-related macular degeneration, after experimental animal studies.
