Abstract (EN)

Electrochromism can be defined as the reversible change in optical properties (such as transmittance change) as a result of electrochemical oxidation or reduction by applying diverse potentials. In this thesis, V2O5-polyfuran (PFu) hybrid was prepared by using RF rotary plasma method and it was aimed to increase the electrochromic performance of vanadium pentoxide. Electrochemical and electrochromic properties of V2O5-PFu and V2O5 films were investigated in three different electrolyte media (1 M LiClO4/PC, 1 M NaClO4/PC, 1 M LiTRIF/PC). The performances of electrochromic properties of V2O5-PFu and V2O5 films (optical contrast, switching time, color yield, cyclic stability) were compared in detail. Due to the synergistic interaction between V2O5 and PFu, hybrid films exhibited better electrochromic performance than V2O5 films. The best electrochromic performance of the V2O5-PFu electrochromic film was obtained in 1 M LiClO4/PC electrolyte (optical contrast: %32, color yield 31,3 cm2/C). As the NaClO4 electrolyte had higher ionic conductivity, the fastest reduction responses of the V2O5 and V2O5-PFu films were calculated as 3,96 s, 2,24 s, respectively.
