Rifat Ilgaz's humor features in children's novel's investigation on children's literature

The aim of this study is examine Rifat Ilgaz‟s sense of humor who has an important place in Turkish literature for his literary works for childeren, in his novels in terms of children literature. Every society that cares about child education guarantees the future. In recent years there have been many studies on child education. These researches have suggested that the types of literature such as stories and novels have an important place in the child's education and personality development. In our understanding of children education, children are given great importance and they are in the center of education. The students are aimed to be educated as individuals who research knowledge, question, and give importance to artistic sense and aesthetic appeal. The type of novel we try to examine together with all the genres of children's literature, when treated in a humorous way, positively affects the child's feelings and makes the child smile and inquire as children learn. This study shall be assessed deeply in line with the novels of Ilgaz. While telling children about the elements of humor and the preservation of language, Rıfat Ilgaz chose the novel and his novels are of a good example. Rıfat Ilgaz‟s novel carries an element of humor. To examine how humor is reflected in these novels, to demonstrate the views that try to explain what children are laughing at and to determine the value of Ilgaz‟s novels in the light of these views are some of the purposes of this study.
