Childhoods of the Emperors of the Julio-Claudian dynasty in the Roman Empire

One of the turning points in Roman history is undoubtedly the transition to empire. The two great families of Rome, the Julii and the Claudii, united through political marriages and adoptions. With the advent of the imperial period, the Julio-Claudian dynasty became one of the first and most influential dynasties of the Roman Empire. The Julio-Claudian dynasty, which began with Octavius becoming princeps in 27 BC, came to an end with the death of Nero in 68 AD. During this period, the dynasty produced five emperors: Octavius (Augustus), Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. This study focuses on the childhood of these emperors, whose decisions directly influenced Rome, and analyzes the lives they led during this period, the traumas they experienced, and the extent to which these traumas influenced their personality development and their style of governance in later years.
