Relationship of romantic jealousy and attachment styles with romantic relationships

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between romantic jealousy and attachment styles. The research group consisted of 416 participants (208 women and 208 men) who lived in Istanbul and had at least one romantic relationship between 18-65 years of age. Personal Information Form, Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships, Romantic Jealousy Scale and Multidimensional Relationship Scale were used as data collection tools. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using SPSS (Windows 22.0). Number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistical methods in the evaluation of the data. The t-test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between two independent groups, and the One-way Anova test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between more than two independent groups. After the Anova test, Scheffe test was used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences. Pearson correlation and regression analysis were used among the continuous variables of the study. According to the results of the study, there is a significant relationship between romantic relationship and romantic jealousy. A significant relationship was found between attachment style and romantic relationship satisfaction. The relationship between Romantic Relations and anxiety and avoidant attachment was found to be quite strong. When the relationship between attachment style and romantic relationship was examined, it was found that avoidance level had a negative effect on romantic relationship. The findings discussed in this study are discussed in the context of the related literature.
