Abstract (EN)

Cisplatin is an antineoplastic drug used in cancer treatment. Its main side effects are known as hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity and cardiotoxicity. Disruption of antioxidant and oxidant balance is the main reason for the occurrence of side effects. The aim of the study is to investigate whether rosehip (Rosa canina L.) fruit extract, which has polyphenolic and antioxidant-rich content, has a preventive effect on cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity. In the study, experimental groups were formed as 5 groups contains 7 rats in animal experiments. The groups were adjusted as control, cisplatin, high dose (400 mg/kg) rosehip, cisplatin+high dose rosehip (400 mg/kg), and cisplatin+low dose rosehip (200 mg/kg). For 11 days, saline was given to the control group by gavage and rosehip extract was given to the rosehip groups. Groups containing cisplatin were given a single dose of cisplatin (7.5 mg/kg) i.p on the 5th day. On the 12th day, the groups were sacrificed. AST, ALT, and OSI values were calculated in serum. MDA, SOD, Catalase, IL-6, TNF-α , OSI values were calculated for liver tissue. Tissue and serum OSİ, TNF-α and IL-6 values were found to be statistically higher in the cisplatin group compared to the other groups, indicating the onset of an inflammatory response. It was observed that the values approached normal in the cisplatin+rosehip groups. These results, it was observed that rosehip was effective in liver damage. Gram staining method was used for histopathological analysis. In the statistical evaluation, the effects of high-dose rosehip containing groups on liver damage were determined.
