The problem of reference in the context of judgement in Russell's philosophy

The aim of this thesis is to reveal the influence, originality, and the contemporary relevance of Bertrand Russell's metaphysics. To this end the problem of reference in the context of judgment in Bertrand Russell's philosophy has been taken into consideration. In this regard, the relation between propositions, parts of the propositions and mind-independent reality is analyzed. Relying on an exploration of the historical background of Russell's views, the philosophical questions Russell has undertaken are clarified. Then, the explanations put forward by Russell to the aforementioned questions throughout his career have been presented. The position occupied by Russell's philosophy shaped in line with these explanations in the contemporary philosophy is revealed. In the end the kind of metametaphysics assumed by Russell's philosophy is clarified.
