Abstract (EN)

The Russia-Ukraine war began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a large-scale military attack on Ukraine. This war had various effects on global markets and on companies in the Turkish stock exchange. This study looks at how the war changed the financial performance of defense companies in the BIST index. It compares the periods before and after the war. The main question is: "How did the companies' profits, income, expenses, and other financial ratio change after the war?" The aim of the study is to analyze the differences before and after the war, and therefore, two main periods will be defined to cover the periods before and after the Russia-Ukraine war using financial data sets for a comparative analysis. The original value of this research aims to provide significant insights into examining the economic impacts of a global conflict on local markets, and it seeks to explain how BIST defense industry companies are affected by a major crisis like war and the general trend of changes in their financial performance.
