Abstract (EN)

Today, energy consumption originating from cooling systems occupies an important place in total energy consumption througout the world. Energy costs have increased in recent years. Parallel to this, there is an increase in energy demand. However, the desired levels in energy supply could not be reached yet and, on the energy crisis in the European continent after the Russia - Ukraine war, This situation necessitates energy saving in the cooling sector as in every sector. Thus, It is a necessity to develop new cooling systems with high energy efficiency and minimum environmental damage. For this purpose, COP (Coefficient of Performance) values and daily energy consumption of cabinets produced in four different configurations were compared. These configurations were obtained by mounting two different compressors with fixed speed and variable capacity, respectively, on a cooler insulated with polyurethane (PU) foam materials, and then on an alternative cooler insulated with a vacuum insulation panel (VYP). As a result of the study, it was determined that the COP coefficient of a refrigeration system working with a variable capacity compressor and insulated with VYP was the highest and the daily energy consumption was the lowest. It was observed that the system with fixed speed compressor and PU insulation had the smallest COP value and the highest daily energy usage among these four configurations. Although the COP value of the system insulated with PU and with a variable capacity compressor is higher than the system with a VYP insulated and fixed speed compressor, it has been observed that the daily energy consumption is higher due to the higher operating rate. When the test results are evaluated, it has been determined that when choosing compressors, which are the heart of cooling systems, it is necessary to choose options with high compressor efficiency and that the use of VIP materials instead of PU foam insulation has very positive results in terms of reducing energy consumption.
