The aim of this study is to analyze the distinction between categorematic and syncategorematic expressions developed by Edmund Husserl on a philosophical and linguistic ground in the context of Sabahattin Ali's stories. According to Husserl, categorematic expressions are expressions that carry meaning on their own and can be used independently, whereas syncategorematic expressions are expressions that do not carry meaning on their own and only gain meaning when they are combined with other expressions. The thesis entitled "An Analysis of Categorical and Syncategorematic Expressions in Sabahattin Ali's Stories" consists of five chapters. In addition, categorical and syncategorical expressions in the stories of the Viyolonsel, Gramofon Avrat and Ayran were analyzed at the word level and shown in tables.
