The work of Thabit İbn Sinan titled Tahdhib al-Akhlaq and moral philosophy

Thabit Ibn Sinan is a member of the family of Qurra from Harran, known for their contributions to translation activities and their skills in medicine during the Abbasid period. There are three main sections in this study, which was created by taking the work called Tahdhib al-Akhlaq, which is attributed to Sâbit one of the leading physicians and historians of his period, in the center. In the first part of the study, information on the life stories of Thabit Ibn Sinan's family, his works and his contributions to the world of Islamic thought were given. The second section of the study examines Thabit Ibn Sinan's approach to theoretical moral issues. In this context, the definition of morality, the relationship between the soul and the body, mixtures, and the source of habits are discussed. The third and last part of study is devoted to Thabit's approach to practical moral issues in the context of moral philosophy, his approach to virtues, virtue education and the treatment vices.As a result, it can be seen that the medical approach to ethics, which dominates theoretical and practical moral issues, is a characteristic feature of the work.
