Abstract (EN)

Syntax examines the structure, function, and semantic features of phrases formed by multiple words, as well as the connection methods between sentences and the formal and semantic relationships between connected sentences. In this study, the syntax of Sadık Yalsızuçanlar's novel Diyamandi has been analyzed. The study consists of two sections. The first section provides information about Sadık Yalsızuçanlar's life, literary identity, and novels. The second section examines the elements of the sentence and their functions, phrase structures, and their definitions, while also presenting different perspectives and classifications by researchers. Subsequently, the connection methods of sentences, sentence types based on the predicate's type and position, and the semantic features of sentences are analyzed and supported with examples from Diyamandi. Finally, the sentences taken from the novel are analyzed in detail, and their syntactic components and phrase structures are systematically demonstrated. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to studies on Turkish syntax by conducting an analysis of Diyamandi, a novel by one of the contemporary authors of Turkish literature, Sadık Yalsızuçanlar.
