Abstract (EN)
The history of adobe, which is used as a structure material by the human being is asold as its own existence. The premitive human who first left the cave found and usedthe natural materials such as stone, soil, water and wood when s/he needed to build ashelter in order to keep his/her existence.Adobe is a material which have easily-found raw material, is recyled, economical,harmless to the enviroment while being produced and provides heat isolation. Thisresearch is based on the fact that adobe materials used in Safranbolu houses havekept their existence up tiill now.The research has been done under eight main titles, the history of Safranbolu is givenshortly in the introduction part. In the second part the architectural structures of theSafranbolu houses and in the third part their construction methods are mentioned. Inthe fourth part the advantages and disadvantages of the Safranbolu houses wereexplained and in the fifth part the works that made by the improvement of the adobequality was explained. Next sixth and seventh parts damages that happened by thedifferent occasiones and their repairment tecniques were investigated. At the end,pressure and water absorbing experiments were done that composed by the usingblast furnace slag to the adobe. After that the most suitable mixture rate were found.In nine part the result of the test is examined and interpreted more over propermixture and question of what the proper mixture would be is examined.Key Words: Safranbolu Houses, Blast Furnace Slag, Soil, Adobe, Alker
