Abstract (EN)

Violence in workplaces is increasing day by day and is turning into a serious occupational health and safety problem. Although it is felt in every sector, it is a fact that violence in the field of health is more common than in other sectors. For healthcare workers, the consequences of exposure to violence include anger, fear, feelings of hopelessness and humiliation, physical and psychological injuries, including alienation and depression. Negative emotions experienced cause a decrease in the quality of health care and an increase in absenteeism along with work motivation. Existing research has shown that effective management of health institutions, increasing penalties for violence, training employees on risky situations and ways to deal with violence will reduce violence. The effectiveness of the measures to prevent violence against health workers depends on the cooperation between politicians, health workers and social actors. In this study, it is aimed to offer new solutions to health institution managers and existing laws in line with the opinions of health workers in order to reduce violence against health workers. The research was carried out in the University Hospital, the City Hospital and the State Hospital, and data were obtained from different working environments. Opinions of healthcare professionals and patients on the subject were obtained by questionnaire method and the data were analyzed statistically.
