Investigation of job satisfaction and self-respect in health workers: Ordu province

This study was planned as a comparative, relationship-seeking and descriptive study in order to determine the relationship between job satisfaction and self-esteem of health workers and socio-demographic variables affecting them in Ordu province. This study was carried out on 229 health workers in Fatsa State Hospital, Ünye State Hospital and Korgan State Hospitals in Ordu province. The data used in the study were obtained by Personal Data Form, Minnesota Satisfaction Scale and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Data were evaluated by percentage, mean, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test and Spearman Correlation Test. As a result of the research, no statistically significant relationship was found between self-esteem and job satisfaction. A statistically significant differentiation was found between job satisfaction and age and service year variables. There was no statistically significant differentiation between job satisfaction and variables such as gender, marital status, spouses' working status, having a child, child care style, occupation, education level, financial income, working place and country of study. A significant differentiation was found between self-esteem and professional and workplace variables, but no significant differentiation was found between self-esteem and gender, age, marital status, spouse's working status, having children, child-care style, education level, financial income level, and year of service.
