Evaluation of occupational safety culture in healthcare employees: Example of private hospital in kahramanmaraş province

Considering the data obtained as a result of researches and studies on occupational accidents and diseases in our country and in the world, limb losses, disabilities, deaths, economic and moral losses are quite high. The culture of safety as much as the sanctions imposed on a legal dimension to minimize work accidents and occupational diseases is an important issue in the concept. Considering the developed countries, it is of great importance to ensure the health and safety of employees and to protect them continuously. In order to create a sense of security culture in a society, the culture of the organization and the culture of solidarity must be acquired. The inclusion of the concept of occupational health and safety in the education and training lives of people in a society and the creation and development of their culture in this regard is an extremely effective method for minimizing occupational accidents or occupational diseases in that society. In this sense, starting from the education and training process starting with the kindergarten, until the last stage of the education in which the person can train himself, the courses for occupational health and safety should be planned and taught as a compulsory course in the curriculum. The training sessions will be given to children and young people of the population, and after a certain period of time, individuals will gain the recognition of behaviors according to the occupational health and safety rules and will help them to work safely and healthily by applying them to future business life. The universe of the research is composed of health workers working in a private hospital serving Kahramanmaraş. The hospital has employees from many different professional groups, mainly doctors, nurses, medical secretaries, Data Entry officials, security guards, laborants. A total of 171 surveys were evaluated in the study. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 21 program.
