Abstract (EN)
This study, it was aimed to reveal the effect of the psychological capital of health workers working in emergency departments on trust and safety levels against violence in healthcare. The study population comprises 136 emergency service workers working at Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital. The survey method was used to collect data. The survey form used consists of three parts. In the first part of the form, there is a socio-demographic information form that asks about the participants' gender, age, education level, marital status, position, length of time working in the profession, and length of time working in the emergency department. The second part of the form includes the Health Professionals' Safety and Confidence Scale Against Violence, developed by Kowalenko and colleagues in 2013 and adapted into Turkish by Şengül et al. in 2018. The scale consists of two subscales and seven questions in total. The scale sub-dimensions consist of the Security and Trust dimensions. The third part of the scale includes the Organizational Psychological Capital Scale, developed by Luthans et al. (2007), whose Turkish validity and reliability were determined by Çetin and Basım (2012). The scale consists of four sub-dimensions (optimism, psychological resilience, hope, and self-efficacy) and 22 statements. Parametric tests were used to analyse the data since it was within the normal distribution feature. In difference analysis, a t-test was used for groups with two variables and a one-way analysis of variance was used for groups with three or more variables. Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between variables, and multiple regression analysis was used to determine the effects of variables on each other. According to the findings obtained within the scope of the research, a significant positive relationship was found between the total levels of safety and trust against violence and the sub-dimension of trust in emergency service workers. According to the regression analysis results, a positive predictive relationship was found between both self-efficacy levels and security and trust levels against violence. In addition, a significant difference was found between gender, marital status and occupation, security and trust against violence and psychological capital. As a result, it was found that psychological capital, psychological resilience, hope and self-efficacy levels increased as the total and trust sub-dimension levels of safety and trust against violence increased in emergency service workers. Within the scope of these results, special training programs should be developed to increase the security perception of employees, and effective intervention strategies should be taught in violent incidents. At the same time, psychological support programs should be established for employees in order to strengthen psychological resilience. These programs should cover coping with stress, developing emotional intelligence, and coping with challenges in the workplace. This two-pronged approach can positively affect emergency room workers' safety and psychological well-being.
