Organizational silence and organizational commitment levels of health workers: A sample of Giresun province

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was investigated how the organizational silence perceptions of health workers working in public health institutions in Giresun Province Merkez District affect their organizational commitment perceptions and how organizational silence and organizational commitment perception levels differ in terms of different demographic characteristics. The research was carried out with a total of 286 people, 102 of whom work in family health centers in the Central District of Giresun, and 184 people who work in hospitals. The data of the research were obtained with the personal information form, the organizational silence scale and the organizational commitment scale. The data obtained were analyzed with the IBM SPSS Statistics (version 22) program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the organizational silence and organizational commitment perceptions of health workers were moderate, and the acquiescent silence, defensive silence and protective silence sub-dimensions of organizational silence negatively predicted the normative commitment and continuance commitment sub-dimensions of organizational commitment. It was determined that the acquiescent and defensive silence sub-dimensions of organizational silence negatively predicted the affective commitment sub-dimension of organizational commitment.
