A study of burnout levels and problem-solving skills of healthcare workers: The example of the state hospital

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the factors that effect the level of burnout and problem solving abilities and study the correlation between the level of burnout and the problem solving abilities of public health workers. The research sample consists of 176 public health workers from Kadirli State Hospital, Osmaniye. In the study, Maslach Burnout scale was used to determine the level of burnout of the public health workers and the problem solving inventory and a personal information form ,which was prepared by the researcher, were used to scale the problem solving abilities. In the analysis of the data t test, one way variance analysis and the Product Moment Correlation techniques were used. It was observed that the emotional exhaust, desensitization and personal accomplishment levels of public health workers have no significant differences depend on the gender, age, marital status, education level, job title and choosing the profession on their free will. The emotional exhaust and personal accomplishment levels of public health workers have shown significant differences depend on the duration spent in the carrier. The emotional exhaust and desensitization levels also shown significant difference depend on willingness for changing the profession and the satisfaction with the salaries. No statistically significant difference was found between gender, marital status, job title, the duration spent in the carrier, the willingness for changing the profession, the satisfaction with the salaries and problem solving abilities. It was observed that there was a statistically significant difference between the age, education level and problem solving abilities. Finally it was observed that there was a statistically significant correlation between the level of burnout and problem solving abilities of the public health workers; the study has showned that as the problem solving abilites increase, the levels of emotional exhaust and desensitization decrease but the personal accomplishment doesn't.
