Abstract (EN)
European Quality Management Foundation (EFQM- European Foundation for Quality Management) Excellence Model is a quality assessment tool including the main headings for the success of the institutions in today's competitive world and revealing the activities of the institutions within the framework of these main headings. In this way, the institutions determine the aspects that should be developed through their successful applications. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the benefits arising from the adoption and implementation of total quality management for health organizations. The key point in the success of the total quality management approach in organizations is that there is a management philosophy that has adopted this understanding, from inferiors to superiors. In this study, the quality-oriented activities of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Health Practice and Research Center were evaluated. OMU Health Practice and Research Center started its quality studies in 2005 and continued its activities more comprehensively as of 2014 within the scope of the Ministry of Health's quality management. Total Quality Management is a participatory management approach that based on continuous development, improvement, and customer satisfaction. For this reason, while OMU Health Practice and Research Center is evaluated in terms of total quality management, the processes of criteria such as mission, vision and strategy, corporate culture and leadership practices, creating sustainable value, increasing performance and transformation, and stakeholder perceptions and strategic and operational performance have been examined. In this way, the current state of the institution and its strong and open to improvement aspects were analyzed in detail. The assessments were made using the updated 2019 EFQM Excellence Model in the study. Since the 2019 EFQM Excellence Model is new, this study is thought to be beneficial for health organizations and scientists researching the field of total quality management.
