Abstract (EN)
In this study we make a critical edition of Suleymanname written in Persian by Shah Qasim Tabrîzî (d. 1539) who came from Iran in the beginnings of XVI. century. As a poet, he was charged with writing the Ottoman history for Suleiman the Magnificent. Suleymannames were a kind of historical source of a specific genre focusing on the reign of Suleiman I. They were produced on behalf of Suleyman the Magnificent. This thesis is based on the critical transcription from the copies of the works in the Suleymaniye Library, Hagia Sophia and Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha collections. This study is consisted of three parts: The first chapter is dedicated to find the real author of the work since there were two different writers associated with the Suleymânnâme, namely Abdurrahman Gubârî and Kireççizâde Mahmud Gubârî. However, it is found that as opposed to present knowledge, the writer of Suleymânnâme was Shah Qasim Tabrîzî. In the second part, the attention is directed to the evaluation of these copies in terms of language, style and historical content. In the last part, the critical edition is fully presented on the basis of technical rules.
