Bookkeepers Şeyhizâde Mehmed Es'âd Efendi's work named el-Virdü'l-Mufîd fî Şerhi't-Tecvîd (Review-Text)

Mehmed Es'ad Efendi, who was famous with the pseudonym "Sahaflar Şeyhizade" and immigrated to Istanbul from the Nerdübanlı district of the town of Malatya, will not be with him as judge of Egypt and Jerusalem. One of these works is el-Virdü'l-Müfîd fî Şerhi't-Tecvîd, which he wrote in the field of qiraat and tajweed. This work is an explanation of the Karabaş Tajweed of Abdurrahman al-Karabâşî (d. 904/1498), which is the commentary of Birgivî's (d. 981/1573) work named ed-Dürrü'l-Yetîm. In his work, the author left the parts of the Karabaş Tajweed in parentheses and tried to explain the work in other parts. Finally, he dealt with the important issues of tajweed such as vakf, imâle and lahn, which are not included in the Karabaş Tajweed. The study, which is about the author and his work, consists of an introduction, three main sections and a conclusion. In the first part, the life of Mehmed Es'ad Efendi, the author of the work, has been examined. In the second part, after the subjects in the author's work called el-Virdü'l-Müfîd fî Şerhi't-Tecvîd, which is the subject of the thesis, are explained through classical works and recent recitation and tajweed works, Es'ad Efendi's different views on these issues are mentioned. In the third and last part of the thesis, the transcription text of the work is given, taking into account the DIA translation script. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation about the subjects covered by the work in question is made and the values that the work will add to the education of the Qur'an are presented. Thus, it was possible for the study to be a source for academic studies to be carried out in this field.
