Abstract (EN)

It is seen that the first respondents of The Holy Qor'an were those who were highly competent in recitation as well as in other Islamic disciplines. It is a widely known fact that the companions of Prophet Muhammad paid a great deal of homage to The Holy Qor'an and its recitation during the lifetime of the prophet. The venerable companions of Prophet Muhammad were taught how to recite The Holy Qor'an by the Prophet himself in different ways on many occasions. Some of them learned to recite The Holy Qor'an in one or two ways and the others in more than two ways. The accurate recitations of The Holy Qor'an obtained from the Prophet by the eight companions were attributed to him, which is a remarkable fact seen in Zehebî (b. 748/1348) and İbnü'l-Cezerî's works (b. 833/1429). The fact that these people were chosen by the Prophet out of thousands of others emphasize their competence in recitation. These respectable people include Ömer b. el-Hattâb (b. 23/644), Abdullah b. Mes'ûd (b. 32/652-53), Ebû'd-Derdâ (b. 32/652), Übey b. Kâ'b (b. 33/654), Osmân b. Affân (b. 35/656), Ali b. Ebi Tâlib (b. 40/661), Ebû Mûsâ el-Eş'arî (b. 42/662-63) ve Zeyd b. Sâbit (b. 45/665). The fact that these people called "Kıraat-ı Aşere İmamları" (Ten Reciting İmams) were part of transmitting chains of the narratives of the Prophet emphasize the importance of these transmitted sayings. In the present study, those people among "Kıraat-ı Aşere İmamları" (Ten Reciting İmams) who were involved in transmitting chains of the narratives up to the Prophet Muhammad were determined and their lives were described chronoligcally based upon their level of importance in the Prophet's opinion. Each of the companions of Prophet Muhammad were examplified under two titles like "Mushaf'ın Cem İstinsahı İle İlgili Rivayetler (narratives related to collecting and copying the Holy Qoran's parts) and "Kıraat Çeşidi İle İlgili Rivayetleri ve Değeri (narratives related to type of recitation and their importance)". The present study included scripts, memorizations and compilations from these eight venerable people as well as accurate, irregular and manipulated recitations and their importance. This independent study was performed to determine the value of those eight companions of Prophet Muhammad who contributed to the transmission of recitations from the Prophet to Kıraat-ı Aşere in the discipline of recitation.
