Text linguistic analysis of the story book of Sait Faik Abasıyanık

Language shows the thinking system of a nation. It is both a fusing and convergent basic element for societies. From the past to the present day, people have constantly thought about language and made studies. These studies were primarily on linguistics and then divided into different branches. One of these branches is text linguistics. As a sub-branch of linguistics, text linguistics examines a text in terms of features such as cohesion and consistency by making it a subject of study. The aim of this study is to evaluate the story book of Sait Faik Abasıyanık who lived between 1906-1954 in terms of text linguistics. In the study, the concepts of cohesion and consistency were explained within the framework of the structure of text linguistics and applied on the stories. In the story we are working on, we examined the text linguistics and especially the two basic concepts of the field of cohesion-consistency. The content of the study consists of precursor / independent reference elements, consecutive / dependent reference elements, formal / lexical correlation elements, and text separators. The customization link, cause and effect link, comparison link, cause link and time link are also examined. All of the sections examined give us information about the linguistic structure of the stories. Especially the presence of pronouns in postponings and preponings, which include the reference, draws our attention. Semaver's story book is based on Doğan Günay's Text Knowledge and Canan Ayata Şenöz's Textology and Turkish Linguistics.
