Abstract (EN)
It is accepted that teachers should have some qualifications to fulfill the teaching profession. In order to present the stated qualifications it is known that studies are done in various countries all around the world. It can be stated that qualifications of teachers have been generated and updated according to the needs of the present. Educational studies are still being carried out locally to enable teachers to have these qualifications. One of these studies was carried out in Sakarya during the 2016-2017 Academic Year. The aim of this research was to reveal the efficiency of the project which had been carried out in Sakarya and named as "The Project for the Development of Teachers' Qualifıcations" by using the views of the participant school directors and the teachers. Simple survey model has been used in the research. The researcher has performed the research scale to 417 teachers from the schools of Ministry of National Education who have been chosen using random selection method and then the data, uploaded to a statistical software in the computer the environment has been analysed. Descriptive statistics such as frequency (f) and percentage (%) have been used in the analysis of the participants' demographic characteristics. While analysing the data, Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests have been used. Analysing the findings of the research, it has been determined that "The Project for the Development of Teachers' Qualifications" contributed positively to the adaptation of school directors and teachers. However, it was concluded that the aforementioned project was not effective enough in the sub-dimension "Encouraging teachers to follow innovative practices". Males are more willing to participate in the development of teacher qualifications than females. Age factor and professional seniority are observed to have no effect on the development of administrators' and teachers' qualifications. The school directors and teachers in elementary schools are more willing to participate in studies related to the development of school directors' and teachers' qualifications within the sub-dimensions "Administrative and corporate development" and "Adaptation studies". The school directors and teachers who are graduates of a postgraduate program are positive for the sub-dimensions "Mechanisms supporting academic studies", "Innovative applications in professional life", "Administrative and corporate development" and "Motivation". In this study, the school directors are concluded to be generally supportive of teachers in sub-dimensions "Mechanisms supporting academic studies" and "Motivation".
