Abstract (EN)
Narratives of past wars; preparing it visually by removing positional expressions from written expressions such as memoirs, journals, books, etc. can be conveyed to readers/researchers more easily and understandably. In this transfer, the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the historical scene provides great convenience. Namely, the digital processing of the obtained data, creation of a database and the ability to perform various analyzes on this created database is one of the most important factors in this subject. This study consists of two parts. In the first part; studies on the use of GIS in historical wars were examined and a literature research was conducted on what kind of applications were made in GIS-based war geography. In the second part, artillery positions were identified along with documents, sketches, memoirs and aerial photographs of the Battle of Sakarya and its geography, which is our subject of study, and thematic maps were created based on the analysis of the positions of the troops in the battlefield and the analysis of the artillery position areas using ArcGIS Pro yazılım "Military Tools".
