The image of woman in Turkish-German literature in the case of Saliha Scheinhardt's Frauen, die sterben ohne dass sie gelebt hätten and Feridun Zaimoğlu's Leyla

In German-Turkish literature, writers have generally written about the labor migration that began from Turkey to Germany in the 1960s and the difficulties faced by people who migrated to Germany for various reasons (political, economic, professional), as well as problems of identity and belonging and the isolation processes experienced by women in particular. Similar themes were also addressed in Feridun Zaimoğlu's Leyla and Saliha Scheinhardt's Frauen, die sterben ohne dass sie gelebt hätten and Pusuda Kin, which were examined in this study. Feridun Zaimoğlu's work Leyla offers the reader the opportunity to understand the cultural environment from which immigrant women came before they became immigrants. In the above-mentioned works of Saliha Scheinhardt, the reader is taught the psychological anomalies, problems of belonging, and isolation processes of an immigrant woman in Germany. Turkish-German literature is an important guide to understand the problems of women who come to Germany with migration mobility. In this study, an interpretive approach was used with reference to cross-cultural literature. The study, which was conducted using the qualitative method, is limited to the works mentioned above and identifies the possible problems that women who have had to migrate for various reasons have experienced and may experience in the countries to which they have migrated. The aim of this study is to examine the image of women in the aforementioned works of Feridun Zaimoğlu and Saliha Scheinhardt, the representatives of German-Turkish literature, so that the lives of women in the period before migration and their lives after migration can be understood by the reader. All this is to help understand the lives of the rapidly growing number of immigrants in Turkey today, especially the isolation processes that women and children can experience in a foreign country, and also to provide an example of how the incongruity and alienation they experience towards their own identity cane prevented to some extent.
