Abstract (EN)

The study was conducted to determine the biochemical properties of some local persimmon cultivars and genotypes (Güzelyurt, Onur, 08 TH 03B and 08 TH 15), as well as foreign cultivars (Fujianna O' Basho, Guilbecky, Kawabata O' Gouse, Moralı and Seedless Mondon) grown under Samsun ecological conditions. The study determined total phenolics, total flavonoids, and antioxidant activity (according to DPPH and FRAP assays) as biochemical properties. The total phenolics content in persimmon cultivars and genotypes was found between 433.5 mg 100 g-1 (Moralı) and 1746.6 mg 100 g-1 (08 TH 15). The total flavonoids content ranged from 235.7 mg 100 g-1 (Morali) to 626.3 mg 100 g-1 (Kawabata O'Gouse). According to the DPPH test, antioxidant activity was determined from 0.03 mmol 100 g-1 (Seedless Mondon) to 0.12 mmol 100 g-1 (08 TH 03B, 08 TH 15, and Fujianna O' Basho), while in the FRAP test was ranged from 0.12 mmol 100 g-1 (Guilbecky) to 0.27 mmol 100 g-1 (Onur). As a conclusion, the 08 TH 15 and 08 TH 03B genotypes, as well as the Fujianna O' Basho cultivar, produced promising results in terms of total phenolic, total flavonoid, and antioxidant activity (DPPH and FRAP).
