Abstract (EN)

With the rapid development of technology, technological tools have started to diversify in the same direction. In this study, immersed VR technology was used. Thanks to the wearable tools with this technology, an environment where learners who experience the material feel completely inside has been provided. With this technology, the learner had the chance to experience different educational environments. VR technology has become easy to use thanks to VR glasses, smartphones and applications downloaded to smartphones. This study is a quantitative study that examines the effect of vocabulary learning and its retention in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. This study was carried out on two groups as experimental and control groups. The control group was taught without using VR tools with traditional methods, while the experimental group was taught with the VR tools as well as traditional word teaching. Pre-test, post-test, and follow-up tests were carried out to learners to measure the impact of the teaching material. A motivation questionnaire was applied to measure the attitudes of the participants about the teaching material. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that SG technology has an effect on word learning and retention in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Although an increase was found between the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental group compared to the control group, the difference between the averages was not statistically significant when the groups were compared and the Student's t test results were examined (p = 0.574). In terms of retention, no significant difference was found in the post-test and follow-up test results of the experimental group, while a negative difference was found in the averages of the results of the control group. According to the motivation survey results; The teaching material was found to be entertaining, remarkable and motivational by the participants.
