Abstract (EN)

The search for answers to the needs of the age in education has paved the way for the emergence of alternative approaches. In this thesis, the effects and application forms of alternative methods in art education are examined and the role of the Imagination Center in this context is analyzed. Inspired by innovative educational models such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Waldorf, this study examines the methods for developing creative thinking, aesthetic sensitivity and individual expression skills, and the original approaches brought by the Imagination Center to Art Education. In the study, case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted and interviews were conducted with a study group consisting of 3 mentors and 3 students determined by snowball (chain) sampling method. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis techniques and analyzed using descriptive analysis method. The validity and reliability of the findings were increased by taking expert opinions and providing data diversity. With these results, it is aimed to understand the effects of the Imagination Center's unique approaches to art education and the methods it uses on individuals. In the study, the contribution of the center's practices to the development of individuals' cognitive, social and critical thinking skills as well as their artistic skills was evaluated. Moreover, the study focused on the effects of practices that emphasize elements such as freedom, creativity and social consciousness in art education. This thesis aims to discuss the applicability of innovative approaches in art education in the context of Türkiye and the future potential of art education.
