Abstract (EN)

Melancholy has been a subject of interest for people of all epochs. Melancholy is widely used in both, art and psychology literature also it is a part of life. Therefore, many artworks have been produced in the past and they are still produced today. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the form and content of representation in art by evaluating melancholy in relation to close or mixed concepts in the case of madness. In this thesis, firstly the definitions and history of madness and melancholy are emphasized. Then, the relationship between melancholy-art and the artist, close and mixed subjects such as depression and nostalgia have been introduced. Also, the place of the melancholia was analyzed and finally analyzes were performed in terms of space, light and figure in representations. In the last title, melancholy in the works of art, such as color, tone, etc. , formal or social, psychological connections were examined together with the visuals, in the representations of the body language and place of the analysis by making a representation of the melancholic effect of a representation or melancholic effect on the person has been investigated. It can also create common impressions on the audience. In this research, it was tried to find whether there are common approaches or perspectives on the representations of melancholy.
