Button as an artistic object and its design use

Art is a field where people consciously or unconsciously transform their concrete thoughts and feelings into works with different materials or objects and reveal their original perspectives. When we look at the historical process of art, it is seen that many functional objects turn into art and become the subject of art. The button, which is an important small piece of clothing, has been the subject of many artistic and conceptual studies since the time it was discovered and started to be produced, and has proven to be a sustainable tool and ornament with its raw material and difference in use. People have succeeded in transforming the button into art with the beliefs and meanings attributed to them during their lifetimes. In this thesis, the transformation of the button into art by the artists and designers who are the subject of the button has been examined. In this study, descriptive method scanning model was used. The closest sources to the subject were searched and benefited. Purpose of the study; is to raise awareness that the button is a rich and original object with its diversity and design use. The transformation of the objects used in our daily lives into artistic objects in art movements with the change of time and perceptions is discussed. It is aimed to bring a new conscious awareness to the button, which can be carried as a portable canvas where people can express their own art and design.
