1939 Erzincan earthquake and prison museums in the context of fiction and reality in art

The aim of our thesis is to question the prejudices that exist in people against prisoners, to make us aware of the injustices we do against these people, even if they are criminals, through art. All over the world, there are family, genetic, legal, social, economic, cultural, educational reasons that push people to crime. Unfortunately, these reasons that encourage crime before the crime is committed, prison living conditions, and the processes of adaptation to society after leaving prison are not adequately studied. Social prejudice after prisoners finish their sentences and go out does not give them the chance to build a new and clean life. People don't want to live in the same apartment as an exconvict, work in the same workplace, go to the same school. However, a person who comes out of prison has served the punishment for his crime and has the same rights as other people. In order to build a good and honest life for himself, he first needs a job and income, and then a social environment in which he will be loved and considered. These people, who can't find a job, who are pushed around by ex-convicts, perhaps find the only way to commit a crime again. This study aims to draw attention to the accuracy of the word" scrape off criminals, get people out from under them", that criminals can also be good people if the necessary care is given and the opportunity is provided, society should face this problem instead of turning its back and become aware of its own responsibilities. Since our thesis is about producing works based on a real event, in our study, truth and art and the relations of these two concepts with each other and the concept of reality in art movements were discussed. In the second chapter, fiction and art is explained to fiction in literature and visual arts under the title. At the end of the chapter, the concept of justice and works of art produced in the field of law are included. In the third chapter, The Story of the 1939 Erzincan earthquake and the mind-boggling sacrifice of prisoners during the earthquake is supported by photographs. At the end of the chapter, information about Sinop and Ulucanlar Prisons was given and photos taken during our visits were given.
