Abstract (EN)
With the concern of meeting the basic needs that occur with the beginning of life, human beings started to transform the materials suitable for their lives, which they found around them, and provided the environment for the birth of new techniques and methods. These techniques have turned into crafts with the increase in needs over time. In this way, some professions have transitioned from craft to art over time. Today, kazaz is one of the professions that has transitioned from craft to art. While kazaz is turning raw silk into yarn, the person who processes, sells and crafts silk is also called kazaz. In the ancient city of Şanlıurfa, 30-40 masters used to do this craft in Kazaz Pazarı in the past, but today there is only one master practicing this profession. In Şanlıurfa clothing culture, as well as in many branchs used in weaving and daily life, there are products knitted with the technique of knitwear. Today, these products are out of date with contemporary life. Our thesis work was carried out in 3 stages. In the first stage, the situation of the kazaz art from the past to the present, the supply and preparation of the tools and materials used in the field of kazaz, and the determination of the kazaz masters used in the region from past to present were provided. In the second stage, the application of the identified techniques in the form of work and process steps are mentioned. At the same time, kazaz products produced in the region using these techniques were determined and their construction stages were included. Similar samples of these products were scanned. At the last stage, experiments were made with natural materials by applying the techniques of kazaz without moving away from traditional values, and as a result of these experiments, new original products suitable for contemporary life and fashion were designed and these designs were applied.
