Transcription and examination of the work called Şarkı Mecmuası (Çorum Hasanpaşa Library 19 HK 2253)

The word "Mecmua"(journal) is a word which is of Arabic origin, and it means "all the things collected, saved, organized". Mecmuas are extremely important since they are resources of our history of literature, and can be classified diversely such as parallel mecmuas, mecmuas which have the characteristics of antology and mecmuas which have been created by gathering different booklets. Mecmatü'r-Resâil, which includes Şarkı Mecmuası, the form and content characteristics of which we have studied, is a mecmua which has been constituted by gathering booklets on different subjects. Four different booklets are included in Mecmatü'r-Resâil, and in this study, transcription and examination of Şarkı Mecmuası that is between 33a-75b of this work which is registered with the number 19 Hk 2253 (Çorum Hasanpaşa Library) has been done. 160 poems that belong to 80 poets have been determined in Şarkı Mecmuası. In this Mecmua, which predominatly includes the sixteenth century poets, 109 gazels,17 ilâhis, 14 kıt'as, 12 matlas, 4 rubâis, 2 müfrets, 1 terkib-i bent ve 1 kıt'a-ı kebîre are involved. Besides; 25 of these odes and chants are composed in the modes Uşşak, Nevâ, Nevrûz-ı, Acem, Rast, Hüseynî, Hisar, Sünbüle, Sabâ, Gülizâr, Muhalif Irak, Muhayyer, Bayâtî and Rehâvî. First of all, reviews about the form and content characteristics of Şarkı Mecmuası, about whose date of copying and copyist we have no information, have been done. The studies done related to modes and poets which are in the mecmua have been presented in the form of table. Thereafter the transcription of the text has been presented. As a result of these studies, it is thought that this mecmua, which has been brougt to light, will give an idea about the taste in poem, sense of the poets and their attitudes to each other in that period. Moreover, the modes used in the composed poems will enlighten the music appreciation of the term. Key words : Şarkı Mecmuası, mode, mecmua (journal), Classical Turkish poem.
