Abstract (EN)

Chip seals, which is the most applied road superstructure in our country and in the world, has many features such as providing a smooth surface with high slip resistance, being economical, opening to traffic quickly with fast construction techniques and low initial construction costs, such as being made on granular foundation, which has been preferred from the past to the present. stands out with. It is widely used in Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, England and South African countries. Road transportation has reached a very high rate in our country, with a large proportion of freight and passenger transportation. In our country, a significant portion of 37,922 km of the 68,633 km road network consists of surface coated roads. Surface coatings are coatings that are widely used for improvement and protection on bituminous hot mix coatings. Surface coating applications sometimes deteriorate in a much shorter time than the expected service life and the need for renewal causes serious damage to the country's economy. Within the scope of this study, a surface coating design was made using four types of aggregates (asphalt milling fracture, basalt, marble waste, limestone), and three different types of binders (B50/70, B10/150, B160/220). The surface coating performances of these mixtures were investigated by adding waste materials at 4 different temperatures and varying (25%-50%-75%) ratios. In the test results, it was observed that heating the aggregates and mixing at different rates had a positive effect on the adhesion performance. In the mixtures of marble waste aggregates with basalt aggregates, in the Vialit adhesion test, 100-150 penetration and 160-220 penetration at 120 °C showed 100% adhesion in bitumen, and in the Nicholson test, 50-70 penetration increased the percentage of unpeeled aggregate in bitumen by 25%. In future studies, as in other superstructure technologies, surface coating applications will always be open to development in the light of new developments and experiences from the applications made in our country.
