Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between physical activity level and game performances of chess players. Material and Method: International Physical Activity Questionnaire-IPAQ used in the study was applied to 255 players. Players' UKD points are used to evaluate the game performances. In the study, in which data are analyzed by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences)25.0; when the participants' UKD points are compared to the physical activity level and the time in which players sit Oneway ANOVA is applied for the variants which include more than two groups. After Oneway ANOVA Tukey test is used to determine and construe the distinctness among the participants' physical activity levels. Finally, correlation analysis was made to determine relations between variables Results: In the analyzes, when the players who have low physical activity level are compared to the ones who have medium level and high level an obvious difference comes into view because it's p<0,05. When the players who have high physical activity level are compared to the ones who have low level and medium level an obvious difference comes into view because it's p<0,05. According to the correlation analysis between UKD scores and Physical activity levels; A negative relationship was found at the level of 0,01. Conclusion: It was concluded that while the players who have low UKD points have high level physical activity the players who have high UKD points have low level physical activity. It comes to a conclusion that as long as the players' game performances ascend, their relation with physical activity falters. It is concluded that there is a significant negative relationship between the game performances of the athletes and their physical activity levels. Key Words: Physical activity, Chess, Sport
