Abstract (EN)

Computer aided medical imaging techniques and Technologies has been used very widely by medical doctors both in the diagnosis and treating of disease. Medical doctors analyze the images obtained from imaging devices such as x-ray and MR and for diagnosis of diseases and diagnose according to the professional knowledge and experience for the diagnosis of the disease. Most of the eye diseases are detected by doctors with optical imaging devices. However, some diseases beside to the diagnosis of doctors can also be detected by image processing software. In this study an alternative approach has been developed for automatic determination of the location of the optical disc and detecting macular degeneration of retinal eye diseases. In this study, particularly detecting optic disk, a process was conducted considering maximum white pixels in the region of the optical disc with blood vessel extraction in the retinal images and block processing. Success was found to be 85% of well taken photos. Macular area according to the optical disc were determined by a mathematical expression described in the literature. The artificial neural network method and morphological studies were conducted to determine the presence of disease.
