Abstract (EN)

In the development process of the instrument, especially since the 90s, personal compositions began to increase, and it has been observed that today it has reached a large number in terms of repertoire. The music written by each composer with their own unique attitudes and styles has provided the development of the instrument and it has been seen that there are significant works. They present different musical materials and composition techniques as source for composers who will write new music for the instrument. This study will examine how music written for solo instrument utilizes musical materials in their compositional strategies. In the first chapter, the aim, method, limitations, problems and sub-problems of the study will be discussed. In the second part; within the scope of general information about the saz, the instrument, its origin and historical process, the saz family and its sound structures, its tuning systems and saz arrangements, and the notation of saz music will be discussed. In the second part, the history of the saz in the Republic period, the creation process in traditional folk music, and the saz performance in the urban music culture will be evaluated through the lens of composition techniques. In the third part, the composition strategies of music written for solo saz will be evaluated on the music of the composers. The fourth chapter includes the conclusion part of the study.
