Abstract (EN)

Today, with the development of nanobiotechnology, graphene oxide (GO) is used in the field of health and medicine; drug delivery, biosensor, bioimaging, cancer therapy…etc. started to be used actively in the fields. For this reason, it is important to explain the mechanism of action and possible effects of GO. In some studies, it has been shown that GO has a toxic effect on the male reproductive system caused by histopathological and oxidative stress. Thanks to its biological properties, vitamin E has been reported to have a protective and healing effect with an antioxidant mechanism in the testis as well as in many tissues. In our study, it was aimed to determine the possible histopathological and oxidative stress-induced damages caused by high dose (10 mg/kg) intraperitoneal (ip) GO and to examine the protective and curative effect of vitamin E on the possible damage. In this study, 32 male Spraque Dawley rats will be divided into 4 groups. The control group will be given olive oil and string sterile saline by gavage, and the antioxidant group animals will be given Vitamin E (100 mg/kg) dissolved in olive oil by oral gavage. A high dose of GO (10 mg/kg) will be administered to the experimental group. The treatment group will be given GO (10 mg/kg) and vitamin E (100 mg/kg) together. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of vitamin E against possible histopathological and oxidative stress-induced damage of high-dose IP application of GO.
